Ric Flair

Ric Flair.

One of my earlier memories (in this feeble memory of mine) is of me and my sister (2 years older than me) sitting in front of an old floor, wood console TV, cross legged, watching Ricky Steamboat ripping Ric Flair's clothes off around 11 am on a Saturday morning and giggling our asses off.

As gay as this may sound, it wasn't.  Southeast Greensboro, North Carolina during the late 70's it was.

This was my introduction to pro wrestling.

                          

Ricky Steamboat (whom was portrayed as a good looking, hard working Hawaiian kid)  got pissed off as he sat in the locker room while listening to Ric Flair berate him in a interview that was being broadcast thru out the Carolina's. .  He couldn't take Ric Flair's 'shit talking' anymore more....proceeded to run out from the back and kicked his ass on studio TV....and ripped his expensive clothes off in the process....presumably and completely humiliating Ric in the process.....and told us poor people that you don't have to put up with the rich assholes.  

That's my take away and I'm sticking to it.

Despite all this, Ric Flair remained the champion.  Always came out on top.

Long story short, I was always a Ric Flair guy...not sure why.

I've been fascinated with the Fort Fisher Hermit ever since I heard the story and realized it just happened around the corner from where I live now.

The dude literally just checked out and said "fuck it, I'm done with this bullshit....just gonna go live off the land...at Fort Fisher motherfuckers. In that old bunker.  Take this job and shove it."

And he did that shit.

I'd bet there were nights he sat on the beach in total solitude and felt completely fulfilled as a person. 

 Imagine what it was like to experience the first nasty storm and find complete tranquility and happiness within the experience...first hand....rain in your face, lightning abound, crashing waves, all you have to do is ride this shit out...enjoy the ride.  On the agenda tomorrow:  wake up and live...and be nice to people.
